Bhubaneswar: Authorities have warned vehicle owners in Odisha against ‘fake’ websites claiming to provide online booking for High Security License Plate (HSRP).
Only dealers authorized by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) make online reservations for HSRP, authorities said.
Vehicle owners are advised to visit odishatransport.gov.in and click on ‘Book HSRP’ or visit siam.in to make reservations for HSRP. These websites will direct users to authorized resellers. Home delivery of HSRPs is not available in Odisha.
Step 1: Visit www.siam.in then fill in the name, vehicle number, state, email id and mobile number etc., then select “I agree”. Next, you will be asked to select the district, vehicle type and manufacturer name, etc., as well as enter the chassis and engine number of the vehicle. Then the portal will automatically check the details of VAHAN and if the vehicle data entered by the applicant matches the database of VAHAN and if the RC vehicle is valid, VAHAN will authorize the portal to proceed with payment and slot reservation .
2nd step: Select dealer location and installation date for HSRP.
Step 3: Make the payment, a money receipt will be generated.
Step 4: Bring the vehicle to the assembly location you have chosen (transport receipt).
Step 5: The HSRP will be affixed and the details of the HSRP uploaded to the VAHAN portal.
The Ministry of Transport has made the affixing of the HSRP mandatory for all categories of older vehicles registered before April 1, 2019.
Vehicle owners are free to choose any dealership, location and date for affixing the HSRP. There will be no criminal action for not affixing the HSRP for the first three months, i.e. until August 31, 2022.
Previously, HSRP became mandatory for all new vehicles registered on or after April 1, 2019. This has already been implemented in 24 states. So far, more than 22,000 vehicle owners have made online reservation for HSRP affix in Odisha.
