Do you use My HealtheVet? The process for logging into your account is changing.
Soon, My HealtheVet users will start logging in through the new VA login page. This new process will give your account an extra layer of security to protect your VA information.
The new login process has been available on My HealtheVet for several months, and you may have already tried it for yourself.
If you would like to try it today, go to the My HealtheVet home page, select “Login”, then select “Try New Login” at the top of the page.
How to log in with the new process
The first time you use the new process, you’ll notice a few key differences.
You will start by entering the information you usually use to log in, such as your My HealtheVet username and password or your DS Logon or ID.me account information. You can also use a new identifier, Login.gov, to log in. More information about Login.gov can be found later in this article.
The first time you use the new VA login, you will need to enter an email address to log in. Be sure to use a current email address that you can access during the login process. The email address you use also cannot be used to log into another account, such as your spouse’s.
When you enter your email address, you receive a confirmation message. To continue logging in, you will need to find this message in your inbox and follow the instructions to confirm that you have received it.
The next step is multi-factor authentication. Multi-factor authentication is an additional step that helps strengthen the security of your account. You can learn more about it by watching this video.
If you log in using your DS Logon or My HealtheVet ID, you will have the option to set up multi-factor authentication. Follow the instructions on the page or select “Set Up Later” to skip it for now.
Users logging in with ID.me or Login.gov have already configured multi-factor authentication. Just follow the instructions to complete the connection.
For more details, see the guide to logging into My HealtheVet using the new VA login process.
The new login page also includes a new login option: Login.gov.
Login.gov is a login service created by the US government that runs on other government websites. Login.gov is not the same as ID.me and your Login.gov information is not shared with ID.me.
You can use Login.gov or continue to use previous login options – My HealtheVet, DS Logon or ID.me. Learn more at Login.gov.
We understand that change can sometimes be difficult and we are here to help. You can learn more about what to expect and find helpful resources on the My HealtheVet website.
