Educounting was founded 7 years ago by Ben Jones to provide free financial education to people of all ages. The goal is to educate people about money and make the subject less taboo. From saving to investing and many other things in between. The main objective is to give people tools to make better financial decisions so that they can take control of their financial health by offering practical advice. The Educounting website started with Ben’s desire and passion to teach finance and accounting based on his own mistakes and lack of access to sound, unbiased advice.
Recently, the Educounting website has been updated with a more modern interface with an easily navigable interface to make it easier and faster than ever to get the information you want.
In the words of Ben Jones – “No one wants to worry about money. In fact, learning about money should be easy and fun for everyone. That’s why I started Educounting in the purpose of providing an understanding of how money works It is my passion I was born and raised in Indiana I have 4 brothers and 1 sister My father was raised on a family farm where formal education was high school, my mother insisted that we go to school and study a trade.Growing up, we had little access to tools to understand how to manage money.I became personally motivated to understand everything what I could on the subject. After years of study, I obtained a few degrees and several credentials (CPA, CFA®, CFP® and an MBA from the University of Chicago) that I wanted to share with those who wanted to know more like me.
I found my passion for teaching others through the Becker CPA Review program, where I was honored to be recognized as a top instructor helping others pass the exam. I have discovered that simple and straightforward financial education empowers people to make better financial decisions. I just wanted to share this knowledge with others, regardless of age.”
Ben Jones has two children, Grant and Makenna, who are twins. They are regular contributors to the Educounting site. Together they have produced hundreds of videos featured on the Educounting YouTube channel. While Ben Jones has covered various accounting and finance topics, Grant and Makenna have created over 200 fun videos and educational podcasts on financial education for children. Their podcast is called “Money with Mak and G”, which continues to engage followers worldwide.
They have been featured on various television segments, including Indiana’s own WTHR. Additionally, they have been featured prominently in various well-known news publications including: Forbes, SLJ, Inside, Yahoo Finance, Gobankingrates, Camp, Issuu, and Nasdaq.

EduCounting was born out of a desire to use what I’ve learned over the years to break the stigma around money and show how anyone can learn about finance.
My name is Ben Jones and my story begins in Indiana where I grew up with 5 brothers and a sister. My father came from a farm. We didn’t have much, but what we had was a mother who insisted that we go to school and get one of five degrees that offered certification (MD, JD, CPA, RN or PE).
