Detroit Takes Action After TikTok Video Reveals Huge Illegal Dump Site

DETROIT – The city is cleaning up an illegal dump in Detroit after the region started gaining attention on the social media app TikTok.

Police said it was one of the city’s largest illegal dumping sites.

The Detroit Bus Company moved in across from the site a year ago. Since then, they have been fighting against the disorder.

Detroit Bus Company caught the city’s attention by posting a simple video on TikTok.

“I called the city. I asked, ‘hey can you clean up this land.’ They said ‘maybe’,” said Detroit Bus Company founder Andy Didorosi. “Then all of a sudden I posted on TikTok about all things.”

He said it was a 60 second garbage video. He said that thirty minutes after posting the video, an officer contacted him and said he was coming to check.

“It was a lot of stuff that was thrown here,” said officer Jeremy Woods.

Detroit Police and the Illegal Dump Team attended the scene. People have been arrested and tickets have been written in connection with the site.

Didorosi’s advice? If you find an illegal dump site, talk about it and post it on social media. You can also report it to the town hall through the Improve Detroit app.
