West Dunbartonshire Council is seeking advice from residents on plans for a state-of-the-art community campus in Faifley comprising two primary schools, two learning and childcare centers, an additional support needs base and a community establishment.

The Educational Services Committee approved the launch of consultation on a campus proposal that will include St Joseph’s Primary co-located with Edinbarnet Primary; an educational resource center; Auchnacraig and Lennox Early Learning and Child Care Centers; a base of additional support needs; a community library and a community space.

Plans for the new £ 28.86million education campus also include a state-of-the-art multipurpose playground (MUGA) for outdoor sports to enhance physical activity opportunities among students.

If approved, it will improve learning for generations of children and youth.

The consultation will last 32 days when schools are open to students from Thursday, September 30, 2021 to Wednesday, November 17, 2021 and two public meetings will be held to give residents, parents and caregivers a voice. The first meeting will be online on Tuesday October 5th at 4:00 p.m. and the next public meeting will be held the same day at St Joseph’s Primary at 7:00 p.m.

Educational Services Advisor Councilor Karen Conaghan said, “I know these plans will be welcomed by parents, caregivers and students in Faifley, but we still need your feedback. This will be your school, built in your area, so we want to hear from you. In addition to the new schools and the Early Learning and Child Care Center, we have included a new library and community space, which will be available to residents and this is the first time in West Dunbartonshire that we are combining a community campus with an educational campus. I want to take this opportunity to encourage everyone to give their opinion on the location of the new campus which will be an asset for the whole community.

Councilor Ian Dickson, Vice-Organizer of Education Services, said: “I am delighted to see the plans for the new campus take another step forward. This campus will see hundreds of children move into new buildings designed to allow them to learn and grow in a modern learning environment suitable for 21st century education. I encourage residents to come forward and share their perspectives and help us deliver this fantastic new campus. Your feedback is very important to us, so if you have an opinion on the proposal, please let us know. ”
